John McLeymore is a down-to-earth, Presbyterian, white boy whose whole life is about to change. Until now, he has been able to dismiss his in-law's belief in the old legends as native superstition. Now, he is facing the possibility that the most frightening story of all might be true. John is pulled into a hidden life he can't share with his Cherokee wife, Faron. Life-long friends have secrets he never suspected. Another body is found. His daughter is drawn into danger. A revered elder dies in agony. Now, he has no choice
but to help Walker Copperhead, and his clandestine society of Snake Dancers,
find the murderer and deal with an ancient evil. |
